Private Instagram Follower Reports: How On-Device Analysis Works

By Beyond Soft · Updated

Unfollow Tracker for Instagram analyzes imported follower data on your phone. Its password-free workflow uses Instagram’s own data export rather than asking you to sign in to Instagram inside the tracker.

From Instagram export to a local report

  1. You obtain your followers and following JSON files directly from Instagram.
  2. You select those files in the mobile app.
  3. The app reads the usernames in both lists and identifies accounts you follow that are absent from your followers list.
  4. The imported files are stored on your device so the report can be available after reopening the app.

The inspected iOS implementation reads JSON from selected local files, performs the comparison in the app, and saves those files locally. The published privacy policy states that imported follower data and generated reports are not uploaded to the developer’s servers.

What “no Instagram login required” means

The tracker does not require your Instagram password. You may still need to confirm your identity or sign in within Instagram or Meta’s Accounts Center when requesting the export. Enter Instagram credentials only in Instagram’s own account flow.

Follower data privacy and advertising data are different

Local follower analysis does not mean the app has no advertising or analytics services. The existing Privacy Policy describes third-party advertising, analytics and crash reporting, and possible processing of device identifiers, IP addresses, diagnostics, usage data and purchase history.

On iOS, the policy describes tracking permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. Review the policy and your in-app or device privacy settings for details.

Keep your exported files private

According to the policy, clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app removes its local imported data. Copies you saved elsewhere are separate and may remain in your file manager or cloud storage.

Safety claims and report limits

A password-free export workflow avoids giving the tracker your Instagram credentials. It is not a guarantee against every security risk or every Instagram account restriction. Reports reflect imported files, not live activity, and current lists alone cannot establish historical unfollows.

Read the JSON export guide and report explanation for the full workflow. This guide explains the existing policy; it does not replace or amend it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is imported follower data sent to the developer’s servers?

The published Privacy Policy states that imported follower data and generated reports are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded to the developer’s servers.

Does local processing mean no other data is collected?

No. The Privacy Policy describes advertising, analytics and crash-reporting services that may process device and usage data. Those disclosures are separate from local follower-data processing.
